Welcome to Umubano Community
Umubano was founded on September 9 th , 1998 as a non-profit and apolitical organisation.
It was nitially developed to respond to various needs of Rwandan newcomers who sought asylum in the United Kingdom .
The main aims were at the time to reduce isolation by bringing people together, assist them in coping with post-traumatic experiences lived back home and throughout exile, and particularly support them in their primary needs of living in a new country.
As the time passed members of the organisation settled gradually in their new host country. Their needs also evolved with time. Consequently, addressing them required constant adjustments.
